first night in melbourne

i'm staying with laurie and paddy in melbourne. paddy would be childhood mates with john's roommate, paul. i met the two after their work day at flinders street. flinders street station is a central hub for trains, think penn station in new york, and has many shops and food booths in the station.
after a trek and several tram rides trying to find the infamous little italy on lygon street, we arrived at our destination. it's a real cute street lined with many patio restaurants. it reminded me of being in aix en provence, and all the cafes and restaurants with the outdoor patios.
paddy grew up between ireland and melbourne as a child. the couple had just moved here to melbourne from galway, 2 months ago. i had the pleasure of meeting them when they were in between their move, and stopped over to san francisco before heading down under. as the two are getting acquainted with the sights of their new town, i get the opportunity to play the tourist with them. it makes for good fun, as we are all exploring this wonderful city.
it has the laid back vibe, and melting pot of ethnicities as san francisco. great food as well!

  1. Hi Sheri- you started your trip well (minus the packing stress). It's cool that you got to meet up with people you already know.
Be sure to take photos of some amazing sites and food (especially food as I'm sooo hungry).
