green island is protected by the government of australia, and is spiritually significant to the gungandji aboriginal people. it inhabits a national park, rain forest, resort as well as the sandy beaches that outline the island. there are strict rules and regulations that are enforced. one cannot take anything from the island or reef, and the food used to feed the fish of the ocean have particular guidelines. those are just two of many codes that help maintain and flourish the eco-system of both green island and the barrier reef.
the barrier reef is one of the two things on earth that can be seen from outer space. the other being the great wall of china. the barrier reef stretches out to the distance of seattle down to los angeles. it is one of the world’s most famous places for diving and snorkeling. suzy’s boyfriend, dan, is a diving instructor for pro-dive. when in cairns, do look him up for a great diving tutorial and experience!
